I have started experimenting with materials to UV Map on my UFO to give it a more realistic and futuristic appearance. I've used two different materials that I found and then edited in photoshop to alter their colours and contrast.
When it came to UV Mapping these materials it was a lot more complex than with my paper model. Originally the materials were contorted and stretched to adjust to my objects more complex shape. Therefore, I spent a lot of time stretching and altering the faces in UV Maps until I got it to a point where it looked neater and the material wasn't so disfigured.
Once this was complete I started experimenting with the material on the rectangular lights around the perimeter of my UFO. I altered the materials illumination and increased the colour bleed to make them look more illuminated, which I hope will be noticeable in my final renders.
